Demolition permits have been filed for the existing buildings at 2128 Oxford Street in Downtown Berkeley, Alameda County. The application is related to plans for what could become the tallest building in the city if finished today, a 285-foot-tall apartment complex with 456 apartments above ground-level retail space. Chicago-based Core Spaces is responsible for the application, with planning and CEQA consultation from the Rhoades Planning Group.

Construction Starts For The Chester at Westlake in Daly City, San Mateo County

Construction has officially started on the first new mixed-use apartment community to rise in Daly City in fifteen years. Chester at Westlake will become a seven-story residential complex with over two hundred homes at 99 Southgate Avenue, overlooking the popular Westlake Shopping Center. Kimco Realty and Bozzuto have partnered together as joint developers.

The newest project revision would make the building larger than the first design, but smaller than some of the other earlier concepts. oWow is listed as both developer and architect for the project.

Plans Revealed For Housing On Top Of Amoeba Music in Southside, Berkeley

Plans have been published for a potential new housing project on top of the Amoeba Music record store at 2455 Telegraph Avenue in Southside, Berkeley. The proposal would add seven floors of housing above the existing store, retaining the site’s nearly 50-year-old landmarked murals. Amoeba co-owners Dave Prinz and Marc Weinstein are jointly responsible for the development.

Affordable Housing & Potential Grocer Pitched For 2700 Sloat Boulevard, Sunset District, San Francisco

Plans are pivoting once again for 2700 Sloat Boulevard in San Francisco’s Outer Sunset neighborhood. The latest filing could create nearly seven hundred units of affordable housing, along with a potential ground-floor grocery store and public parking, across from the city’s zoo and close to Ocean Beach. Raelynn Hickey of Nevada-based CH Planning LLC is once more responsible for the application.

Construction has officially started on the new cancer research center within the Potrero Power Station redevelopment in San Francisco. Crews are now working on the seven-story life sciences space, which will include laboratory space and healthcare facilities, designed by world-renowned Herzog & de Meuron. Associate Capital is the project developer.

Groundbreaking Ceremony For 300 De Haro Street, San Francisco

Construction has officially started for the 11-story infill at 300 De Haro Street at the bottom of Potrero Hill in San Francisco. The groundbreaking ceremony was held yesterday morning with State Senator Scott Weiner, the project team, and community members in attendance. Once complete, the triangular development will add over four hundred units of affordable housing overlooking 16th and De Haro Street. DM Development and MRK Partners are jointly responsible for the project.

Crews have completed the foundation, with work starting on the two levels of basement parking that will sit beneath new housing and commercial space. Sacramento Locust Associates is the project sponsor, working with the owners, Litke Properties.

CEQA Documents Updated for 749 West El Camino Real in Mountain View

A mixed use project containing two new buildings has moved forward with the release of a CEQA final report. The project, located at 749 West El Camino Real plans to bring updated commercial space and new residential units to the city of Mountain View. SF YIMBY has been following the project and it’s iterations since 2023.
