Meeting Wednesday For Affordable Housing in West Oakland BART Redevelopment

The Oakland Planning Commission is scheduled to review plans this Wednesday for the affordable housing component within the West Oakland BART redevelopment project. The developers are seeking revisions to reduce the floor count while retaining the same number of units on Parcel T3. Assuming the plans are approved, construction is expected to start as early as next year. Mandela Station Affordable LP is the joint venture responsible for the proposal.

Construction is expected to start soon for the eight-story residential infill named The Valiant at 2538 Durant Avenue in Southside, Berkeley. Two local developers, Martin Group and Valiance Capital, have added Canyon Partners Real Estate to a new joint venture with the goal of an imminent groundbreaking. The team closed on a construction loan from the Beverly Hills-based Kennedy Wilson.

The project aims to replace a gas station and single-story commercial building with retail and nearly four hundred rental apartments. N17 is responsible for the application and filing on behalf of the property owner, Allrise Capital.
