30 Otis Street Tops Out, Facade Nearly Complete in SoMa, San Francisco

Construction is moving quickly on the 26-story tower at 30 Otis Street in SoMa, San Francisco. Since SFYIMBY’s update in late September, the concrete structure has topped out, and the curtain wall glass facade is just a handful of stories from the peak. Once complete, the project will produce 418 new residential units in the ‘The Hub,’ a rezoned district as part of the city’s master plan. Align Development is responsible for the design.

Located in Outer Mission, San Francisco, the developers increased their plans from 24 to 69 apartments. The permits credit HOME-SF, a city-wide local density bonus program to encourage affordable housing near transit. The developer is not listed.

New Mixed-Use Project on 2500 16th Street, Land Park, Sacramento

Development permits have been filed to construct a five-story and 60,152 square foot mixed-use building on a 0.95-acre lot at 2500 16th Street, Land Park, Sacramento. The five-story building project is proposed at the southeast corner of Land Park Drive and Broadway and is up for ministerial review. Williams + Paddon is managing the design and architecture of the project.

Planning Commission to Review 244-Unit 1560 Folsom Street, SoMa, San Francisco

The project proposes to merge four existing lots into two and construct two buildings with 244 residential units. One building would face Kissling Street, and the other would face Folsom Street. The lots’ existing use is light industrial; the proposed use of the lots is residential with ground-floor retail. Ankrom Moisan Architects is managing the design and construction.

A preliminary review package has revealed plans for a dramatic rehabilitation of the iconic Bank of Italy Tower at 12 South 1st Street in Downtown San Jose. While the structure is currently actively operating as an office building, the ground level remains vacant. Plans include modern office space, outdoor terraces, retail, and a music venue. Design is by Bjarke Ingels Group and RMW Architecture, with Urban Community and Vancouver-based Westbank as developers.

The project will be going through the city’s ministerial approval of the infill housing process, designed to streamline approval for needed new housing. “BIG Pants” Revealed for 35 South 2nd Street, Downtown San Jose

New elevations reveal plans for a tower at 35 South Second Street, Downtown San Jose. The starchitect Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) is behind the design, which has a striking resemblance to a pair of trousers. The 289-foot tower will provide a large quantity of residential, office, and retail space around the corner from the future BART station and historic Bank of Italy Tower. Vancouver-based Westbank Corporation is developing the project.
