Construction Halfway to Peak for Marriott at 1431 Jefferson Street, Downtown Oakland

A new Marriott-owned hotel is quickly rising at 1431 Jefferson Street, just two blocks from Frank H. Ogawa Plaza in Downtown Oakland. The concrete structure has reached the half-way point in its march to the 18th floor. Once complete, it’ll open up 276 hotel rooms, of which roughly half will be managed by a Marriott Residence Inn and the other half by the Marriott-owned AC Hotel. Hawkins Way Capital is responsible for the development after fully purchasing the property in 2019 for $30 million.

Facade Installation Imminent for 100 Stockton Street, Tenderloin, San Francisco

Construction has passed a milestone for 100 Stockton Street, an adaptive reuse of a seven-story mid-century department store into a mixed-use retail and office building near Union Square in the Tenderloin, San Francisco. Portions of the building’s exterior are starting to show up, including the aluminum frame for the distinctive third-floor cantilever. Morgan Stanley and Blatteis & Schnur are responsible for the development.

Number 48: Russ Building at 235 Montgomery Street, Financial District, San Francisco

The Russ Building, located at 235 Montgomery Street, is the forty-ninth entry on SFYIMBY’s countdown of the fifty-two tallest proposed or finished towers in the Bay Area. With a rooftop height of 435 feet, it is tied as the 48th tallest skyscraper. It is the first on our list to not be in SoMa, to share its position with another building, and to have once held the title as tallest in the city. It is also the second oldest skyscraper on our list, having opened in 1927. It contains modernized office space in San Francisco’s Financial District. After a 2016 renovation, it received LEED Platinum certification. Shorenstein Properties manages the building, with the Swig Company as the property owner.
