The residential proposal is the first seen in the Bay Area to use the highly anticipated Builder’s Remedy, a Zoning Holiday provision enforced by the State for cities with non-compliant housing elements. Residential plans will be up for approval today for 130 Market Place in San Ramon, Contra Costa County. The plans have been significantly reduced due to public pressure, adding just 44 residences instead of the initial 284-unit proposal. KTGY Architects is responsible for the design.
Construction has started for the new eight-story affordable housing project by Mercy Housing at 600 7th Street in SoMa, San Francisco. The development, named 7th and Brannan, will add 221 new apartments near the Caltrain San Francisco Station railyard and T Third Street lightrail extension connecting SoMa to Union Square and Chinatown. Over half of the apartments will be designated for formerly homeless adults and families.
Construction is expected to start early next month for 2016-2030 Nest Walk in Sacramento’s Newton Booth neighborhood. The Villas will create eight new townhomes on a vacant parcel of land. Tarik Taeha of Pearl Seven Inc. is the project developer.
