Three demolition permits have been filed to make way for the construction of Kelsey Civic Center, a new eight-story affordable housing project at 234-240 Van Ness Avenue. The proposal will add 112 new residences and ground-level retail across from City Hall in San Francisco’s Civic Center neighborhood. Mercy Housing is the project developer.

The project would build around an existing single-family residence on-site to create six new dwelling units. Lafayette-based Branagh Development is responsible for the application.

The San Francisco Planning Commission has greenlighted the 13-story mixed-use proposal for 1200 Van Ness Avenue in Polk Gulch. The proposal is expected to create a 114,000 square foot commercial podium with retail and over a hundred apartments. Van Ness / Post Center LLC, linked with the One Kearny Club and United Management Co, is responsible for the development.
