Urban Catalyst, a Silicon Valley real estate opportunity zone fund, has plans to build a 21-story high-end student housing tower right next to the San Jose State University campus in the fast-urbanizing downtown San Jose. The 250-foot tower will yield 335,260 square feet with capacity for over 850 student residents, parking for cars and bicycles, and shared amenities. Permits filed in June and July of this year are currently under review by the city.

A site visit by SF YIMBY shows construction is well underway for the Brooklyn Basin development, one of the largest in the city of Oakland with thousands of units and two planned skyscrapers. One of the residential structures is already accepting move-ins, and two others are nearing completion. Located adjacent to the gentrifying Jack London District, it is a new mixed-use district with 3,100 new units, 200,00 square feet of ground-floor commercial space, a few marinas, and thirty acres of public parks.

Permits for thirty-six new single-family houses have been filed for the Northlake suburban development in Natomas, Sacramento. The buildings vary in size, including three- to four-bedroom single-story homes or four- to five-bedroom two-story structures. The rising community, managed by Lennar Homes of California Inc., will fill a tract of undeveloped land north of the city center with housing, shops, and water attractions.
