15-Story Affordable Housing Proposed in Chinatown, San Francisco

Updated plans have surfaced for a 15-story affordable housing tower to rise at 758 and 772 Pacific Avenue in San Francisco’s Chinatown. The city purchased the property in 2017 after a campaign by the late Rose Pak, an influential political activist for the neighborhood. While initial plans considered building between 50 and 80 units on the lot, this recent application has proposed constructing 175 apartments and a new banquet hall.

Alameda County has started accepting applications for affordable rental units in the Maudelle Miller Shirek Community Building in South Berkeley. The six-story project is offering 86 units across from the Ashby BART Station and near Berkeley Bowl. Prospective residents will have until February 12th to apply for the lottery drawing.

Plans for a 40-story residential tower in Downtown Oakland are moving forward now that a neighboring business owner has dropped an appeal following an agreement with the city. The proposal would bring 381 units to what is currently a surface parking lot at 1431 Franklin Street in the heart of the urban core. Tidewater Capital is the project developer.

Building permits have been filed for a 354-unit senior living masterplan at 850 Seven Hills Ranch Road in Walnut Creek, Contra Costa County. The development, named Glen at Heather Farm, will replace thirty acres of undeveloped open land with a four-story apartment structure, a two-story assisted living center, and over four dozen single-family homes. Spieker Senior Development Partners is responsible for the application.
