Two new preliminary applications have been filed to construct housing on the former Fry’s Electronics box store site at 550 East Brokaw Road in North San Jose, Santa Clara County. The applications show a shift in focus from the developers, who, as early as January this year, went to the Planning Commission to review their plan for nearly two million square feet of office space.
Preliminary plans have been filed for a new eight-story residential development at 2450 and 2480 Shattuck Avenue in Downtown Berkeley, Alameda County. The application is the first glimpse at a mid-rise complex that would replace two low-slung commercial structures. Gordon Commercial Real Estate Services, one of the city’s largest property owners, is responsible for the application.
A New York City-based private equity firm has purchased the 13.3-acre property at 3905 Freedom Circle in Santa Clara. Greystar, the former owner, has secured approval for a 1,075-unit residential development across the property. Cerberus Capital Management, the new owner, is a multibillion-dollar investment firm chaired by a former US Vice President.
A new affordable housing project celebrated ground breaking at 38889 Bell Street in Fremont. The project proposal includes the development of a two-building affordable housing community that includes redeveloping a motel on the site and a new three-story construction. The project aims to enrich community thru efficient design. The project team includes RCD, James E. Roberts-Obayashi Corp, and Van Meter Williams Pollack.
Just over a year after the official groundbreaking ceremony, crews have topped out the five-story affordable educator housing development at 1360 43rd Avenue in San Francisco’s Sunset District. The Shirley Chisholm Village has replaced a former school and outdoor yard with the low-rise apartment infill designed by BAR Architects with G7A. MidPen Housing is the project developer, and Cahill is the general contractor.
