Construction Tops Out for 3001 24th Street Senior Housing, Mission District, San Francisco

Construction has topped out for the five-story affordable housing project at 3001 24th Street in the Mission District of San Francisco. The project will provide 45 new units for senior citizens in a retail and transit-rich thoroughfare. Mission Neighborhood Centers and Mercy Housing are responsible for the development, after purchasing it from Pepsico nearly twenty-five years ago.

Facade Spotted on KQED’s HQ Renovation at 2601 Mariposa Street, Mission, San Francisco

Construction is moving swiftly for the revamped KQED headquarters. The long-time home for the iconic Bay Area-based media station at 2601 Mariposa Street, Mission District, is redefining itself to accommodate for their significant growth since purchasing the lot in 1991. While their personality and care for broadcasts have endeared them to the public, their new design invites the public inside. EHDD Architects, also known for the Exploratorium at Pier 15, are responsible for the design.

Facade Installation Underway for 1001 Van Ness Avenue, Fillmore District, San Francisco

Construction is progressing at a steady pace for 1001 Van Ness Avenue, a thirteen-story mixed-use tower in the Fillmore District. The building will be a substantial contribution to one of the hottest thoroughfare markets in the city, the Hub area, from which it is less than a mile away. The block-wide structure will be opened up as an assisted senior living center with ground-floor retail. The design is by Handel Architects.

Office Allocation Permits Filed for Industrial Site Redevelopment at Potrero Power Plant, San Francisco

Permits have been filed for the 600,000 square foot office portion of Potrero Power Plant, a 29-acre redevelopment in Dogpatch, San Francisco. Redeveloping abandoned industrial plots has become quite the trend internationally. London has the Battersea Power Station. New York City has the Domino Sugar Factory, and San Francisco has several along the eastern waterfront, including this one, India Basin, and, arguably, Mission Rock. The developers of Potrero Power Plant have recently applied for its office allocation permits, indicating preparation for phase one of six. Associate Capital’s California Barrel Company LLC is in charge of the 5.3 million square foot project.
