AIASF Opens Center for Architecture + Design in Historic San Francisco Building

The American Institute of Architects, San Francisco, opened its new headquarters and the Center for Architecture + Design last Friday at 140 Sutter Street in downtown San Francisco. The civic-minded institution will provide a new cultural hub for lectures, events, and film screenings inside the historic Hallidie Building. Aidlin Darling Design, a San Francisco-based architecture firm, is responsible for the interior design, working alongside a team of collaborators.

In-Person Meeting Wednesday for 1919 Webster Street, Downtown Oakland

The Oakland Planning Commission has scheduled an in-person meeting to review plans for a 17-story office tower at 1919 Webster Street in Downtown Oakland, Alameda County. The proposal is a roughly 9-story reduction from the initial office plans for the central location, reflecting the cooling climate for office space in the Bay Area. Ellis Partners is responsible for the application.

Construction Tops Out for Belmont Village Senior Living, San Ramon

Construction has topped out for the five-story affordable Belmont Village Senior Living at Bishop Ranch 1A in San Ramon, Contra Costa County. The project, addressed at 6151 Bollinger Canyon Road, is the first in a massive 600-acre masterplan led by Sunset Development to transform a car-oriented office campus into a walkable city with 4,500 homes, parks, and shops. Belmont Village Senior Housing is the project sponsor, and Sunset Development is the property owner.
