Steel and wood have started to rise for the California College of the Arts expansion at 1140 7th Street in San Francisco. The new facilities, named Double Ground, allow CCA to close its Oakland campus and consolidate into the Design District neighborhood with a new landmark addition designed by the renowned Chicago-based architecture firm, Studio Gang. The new construction will integrate exposed concrete and mass timber within a new creative complex at the core of the urban campus.
A project review meeting has been requested with plans to renovate the interiors of the San Francisco Armory at 1800 Mission Street in the Mission District. The proposal will leave the historic facade and site use unchanged while adding more equipment infrastructure in the Drill Court venue while creating a dedicated Jazz Club and VIP lounge in the support area. New renderings have been revealed for a residential project proposed for development at 95 Banks Street in Bernal Heights, San Francisco. The project proposal includes the construction of a new three-story residence on a lot that is currently vacant. CEE Architects is responsible for the designs. The property is privately-owned.
The SF Planning Department has published initial feedback for the 46-story residential tower proposal at 636-648 4th Street in SoMa, San Francisco. The structure would replace a two-story commercial building a block away from the San Francisco Caltrain Station with 513 new rental homes, slightly reduced from 522 units earlier this year. The document provides the developer, Solbach Property Group, with the first comments from the San Francisco Planning Department about the project features and design before filing an official application.
Work has officially started for the renovations of the Mission Branch Library at 300 Bartlett Street in the Mission District of San Francisco. Crews will start modernizing the over-century-old public space with improved accessibility and increased floor area. Completion is expected by January 2025.
