Preliminary project assessment permits have been filed for a 30-story mixed-use tower at 1338-1370 Mission Street in SoMa, San Francisco. The early draft proposes to add 287 new apartments and a small ground-level retail hub to the housing market. The developer will sell a portion of the units below market rate to use California’s State Density Bonus program. While the project team has not yet been revealed, they are operating through Mission Street Management LLC.

Rapid progress has been made across the four acres between Mission, Fifth, and Howard streets for the 5M mixed-use project in SoMa, San Francisco. Facade installation has passed the halfway point for the 395-foot office building at 415 Natoma Street, while the 20-story residential tower at 434 Minna Street has just three floors left to be covered. A groundbreaking event for the new Mary Court park occurred last Thursday with Mayor London Breed and Brookfield Properties in attendance.

The City of Palo Alto has reviewed an application for the entitlement of a 16-building townhome development at 200 Portage Avenue in the affluent city in Santa Clara County. The project would add a low-slung residential project eight minutes from the California Avenue Caltrain Station on a portion of the former Fry’s Electronics property. The Sobrato Organization is responsible for the application.

The $81 million Liberal and Creative Arts Building will provide a new home for the Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts Department administrators and the dean’s staff for the College of Liberal and Creative Arts. Planning permits have been filed for an eight-story mixed-use building to rise at 1330 N Street overlooking the California State Capitol Park in Downtown Sacramento. The project is a revision to earlier and larger plans for the site designed by HKS. The most recent proposal calls for about half the residential units, with a sleek design by the internationally acclaimed Kohn Pedersen Fox.
