Breed announced that San Francisco has been awarded more than $117 million in funding from the California Department of Housing and Community (HCD) for developing three affordable housing projects in the city. The support was provided by the California Housing Accelerator Fund, which was seeded with a $1.75 billion investment from the federal American Rescue Plan Act.
The San Jose City College has broken ground on the Career Education Center facility, a flagship expansion for the campus in San Jose. Once complete, the building will provide a centralized destination for student programs, services, and community space. Steinberg Hart is responsible for the design.
Commercial new building permits have been filed for a three-story affordable housing project at 3900 Broadway in Oak Park, Sacramento. The project will be a dedicated facility for senior housing. Related Companies, a prominent national firm, is the project developer.

The project proposal includes the development of two mixed-use buildings offering residential and commercial spaces. TQ Constructions Services Inc is the general contractor. California Design Group is responsible for the designs.
New building permits have been approved by the Planning Department for the construction of an eight-story affordable infill at 730 Stanyan Street in Haight-Ashbury, San Francisco. The project is expected to cost just over a million dollars per unit, costing nearly $166 million. Along with the approval, the Board of Supervisors has passed a resolution supporting potential state funding for the project, and new design plans have been revealed from OMA.
