Affordable Housing Project Approved At 578 7th Street In Downtown Oakland

City Council recently approved a housing project proposed at 578 7th Street in Downtown, Oakland. The project proposal includes the development of a five-story building featuring 57 residential units. Plans call for the demolition of the existing vacant single-story 6,000-square foot commercial structure, occupied by La Borinqueña, a ‘Mexi-catessen’ grocery and bakery store. Riaz Capital is the project applicant. Stanley Saitowitz | Natoma Architects is responsible for the design concepts. Plea Partners LLC is the property owner.

The fifth tallest building in the Bay Area planned or built in the SFYIMBY January 2021 Countdown is the Transbay Parcel F at 550 Howard Street in SoMa, San Francisco. Proposed by a joint venture with Hines, Urban Pacific, and Goldman Sachs Asset Management, the mixed-use tower will rise 806 feet above street level. Construction is scheduled to start in the first quarter of next year.

New Renderings, Timeline Established for McEvoy-Dupont Affordable Housing, West San Carlos, San Jose

SERA Architects has published new designs for a planned two-tower residential development at 280 McEvoy Street and 699 West San Carlos Street in West San Carlos, San Jose. The proposal would create 365 new affordable homes split between the Family and the Workforce towers by Diridon Station. Lendlease and First Community Housing are jointly responsible for the development.
