Breed, representatives from the California Department of Housing and Community Development, and local community leaders recently celebrated the groundbreaking for an affordable housing project at 180 Jones Street in Tenderloin, San Francisco. The project proposal includes the development of 70 100% affordable homes for the unhoused. Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation (TNDC) is the project developer. Van Meter Williams Pollack is responsible for the design concepts. Cahill Contractors is responsible for the construction.
Grosvenor has announced that the official groundbreaking has occurred for 1951 Shattuck Avenue, a new 12-story mixed-use project in Downtown Berkeley. The 163-unit development has received a $90 million construction loan from J.P. Morgan and aims to finish by the second quarter of 2024. Solomon Cordwell Buenz is the project architect.
A Special Planning Commission Meeting has been scheduled for tonight to review plans for a six-story residential infill at 959 El Camino Real in Millbrae, San Mateo County. The project will replace a single-story commercial structure and surface parking with 278 homes and 349 parking spaces, with some affordable housing. High Street Residential is the project applicant and owner.
A site development permit has been filed seeking the approval of a residential project at 905 North Capitol Avenue in Alum Rock, San Jose. The project proposal includes the development of a mixed-use project offering residential, office, parking, and open spaces. Plans call for the demolition of an existing single-family residential building and two accessory structures on the site. Removal of 10 ordinance-sized trees and 24 non-ordinance-sized trees is also requested. Yoneda Enterprises LP is the property owner. KTGY Architects is responsible for the design concepts.
Construction work is underway for Garden Gate Tower, a 23-story residential building in Downtown San Jose. The building is rising at 600 South First Street, located at the street’s intersection with East Reed Street and next to the I-280 Freeway. Scape, an international real estate firm with offices in Boston, is the project developer.
